CFCIE Canada Day & Team English Specialists Farewell Party at the Mariott Hotel downtown Nanning-July 1st, 2016

Our President and CEO of CFCIE, Founder and Honorary Dean of SCIC, Professor Samuel Rong arranged a Canada Day and Farewell Banquet; and addressed all of the CFCIE Team English Specialists at Guangxi University in Nanning out of appreciation for their hard work in SCIC throughout the 2015/16 academic year. President Samuel Rong, the teachers, Guangxi University administration and staff, and the SCIC administration and staff all had the distinct pleasure of meeting together at the Marriott hotel in Nanning at 6:00 PM for the celebration of a successful year.

President S. Rong started by showing his thanks and warm salutations to all of his honored guests. He said:  “I appreciate the support from the University; in particular the International Exchange Department and all of the Management team of SCIC. I welcomed Vice Dean Bi, the IED Coordinator Qin, and the SCIC office Manager Lisa warmly; and we are all pleased to enjoy their company throughout this evening's Ceremony. We appreciate the valuable help of Guangxi University's Leaders, Vice President Shang, and IED Director Huang for helping to arrange the transportation to the Marriott Hotel. This dinner could not have been as memorable without the help of the University's Administration and leaders. Even though not all could attend due to prior commitments during this busy time of the academic year, we share our warm sentiments and salutations to everyone involved, and know that they are whole heartedly reciprocated”.

Throughout the dinner, teachers and administration alike discussed and shared stories of their varied experiences throughout the year, and all had a wonderful time. The strength of the community was almost palpable. President Samuel Rong has arranged the special “CANADA DAY” cake cutting ceremony in honor of Canada Day and our colleagues.

To mark the 15th year of SCIC, all in attendance were given an official CFCIE gift to commemorate the event. The teachers, staff, and administration were surprised and delighted to receive a mug in appreciation for their commitment to SCIC. Each teacher came forward to accept their gift, and received an official picture with President Samuel Rong in front of the Canadian Flag.

In addition to their obvious usefulness, and consideration to the travelling lifestyles that ESL teachers are well known for, the mugs were chosen because the pronunciation of "Mug" in Chinese---“Bei Zi”, which implies "whole life". These Bei Zi symbolize that the teachers and staff who have passed through our halls and contributed to our program will have a strong and valued lifelong connection to CFCIE, and the joint program, SCIC with Guangxi University.

As the evening came to a close, discussion of the event and appreciation for the efforts of all involved were duly noted as common talking points among the teachers. Thank you again to all of those who helped make the Canada Day Farewell Dinner such a special event, we would not have been able to make this evening such a memorable success without you.

CFCIE, the Canadian partner is responsible for all the “software” components of the college, such as the design of curriculums, teaching model of SCIC, dispatching CFCIE English team teachers, monitoring the quality of teaching, as well as the study abroad models for SCIC students. The Chinese partner is responsible for all “hardware” components, and all the students and teachers’ administration affairs; students to the colleges from the SCIC→ study in China model.

SCIC has employed over 300 native English teachers from around the globe since its humble beginnings in 2001, when CFCIE and GXU reached their formal agreement and established the joint Educational Program.  There are 25—35 native English teachers employed each year by CFCIE and GXU living and teaching at SCIC. Our President, Samuel Rong chose the name SCIC 15years ago; it has been a well known and respected institution, and a fine example of international cooperation ever since.

Happy Canada Day from all the members of CFCIE, and may this year find you well.

Sincerely,

Matthew Teske - Deputy HRD of CFCIE, Content Teacher for the 2015/16 Academic Year
Apple Huang, Administrative Secretary of CFCIE, Guangxi Office
